Summer 2009

Well, Daniel and I have had a very busy summer so far. We started off by going to a bed and breakfast in Fredericksburg, which is one of my favorite places. Daniel planned it so that we were able to take our dogs and we really had a blast. The dogs got to run around the whole place and just be dogs, which is definitely a change of place from their normal spoiled lives! We got to take them down to the river and play fetch...even Carson, who usually hates water, got in on the action. They were both loving it. After we wore the dogs out we went wine tasting and found some really great Texas wines. It was definitely a good trip. We also went to Corpus a couple of times and just relaxed. Daniel's roommate from college got married at the Texas aquarium so we got to hang out with some of his old friends and Daniel got to reminisce about the good ole days. For the fourth we went back to corpus with Daniel's parents and saw awesome fireworks off the USS Lexington. We went fishing too, and I caught a huge fish. All in all it has been a good summer so far and it looks the the end of summer is going to come way to fast!

Through Each Other's Eyes

Mandy is an outgoing, family oriented, amazingly beautiful person. Now, a lot of people are described as outgoing but it is a word thrown around a little too much. She is a host of hosts and would stop at nothing, with no personal sacrifice too great, in order to help or accommodate someone else's wishes. Her family is a close knit group of individuals who at first keep their distance, but once they accept you it is like you have been there since day one. They do things as in the TV shows; talk about their feelings, have family meetings, and come together in times of duress to work together for a group goal. Mandy has all of these characteristics and they are beautiful. Beautiful is another characteristic that is thrown around all too often. People define beauty as outward appearance only. As you should know and can see by the pictures, there is no problem in that category. But there are millions of people who posses beauty on the outside. I knew she was the one when she had the triple threat, the hat trick, the some other word for all three! She has the outward beauty, she has the inside beauty, and the third which is always the hardest to find. She has the beauty to stand up for what she believes in while still being compassionate. Now, I am sorry there are not any of these around, but you can't have mine...I love her!

I'm definitely not the writer my soon-to-be husband is. So while my words might not be as eloquent, the love I have for him is more than words can express anyway, so work with me. Daniel will tell you he is a very simple person. He works hard during the week so he can have a barbeque on Sunday with friends and family around him and the Cowboys on TV. How simple is that. But let me tell you, he is much more complex than he believes himself to be. Daniel is, without a doubt, the most generous person I have ever met. He works constantly not only to take advantage of the opportunities God has given him, but also to help those around him succeed and achieve in their own way. His friends and family will all tell you, we are all better off for having him in our lives, as we have all been beneficiaries at one point or another of his generosity and compassion. His ambition is infectious and he shares it willingly with everyone. He's also not one to back down, mostly because he is usually right (just don't tell him I said that). He will fight for what he wants and stand up for what he knows is right. He is funny, he is lovable, he is a great cook, he is sincere, he is a remote control hog, he is directionally challenged, he is not patient for unnecessary detail, and he is loyal. So as you can see he is anything but simple. But I know wholeheartedly that he is committed to the people he loves, he is determined to achieve the most in this life, and he is grateful for the blessings he has received.

He is the love of my life.
